What impacts cost?
Your Cleveland gas line repair cost will depend on:
- Leak location. You’ll pay more to repair a damaged pipe that’s hard to access (beneath a slab or in a small crawlspace, for example). You might also have to pay for cosmetic repairs (to drywall, landscaping, etc.).
- Pipe material. PVC and aluminum will cost less than galvanized steel or iron. Unfortunately, you don’t always have a choice of which material you get. Your Tech can tell you which materials should be used in and outside of your house, which can withstand being buried, and so on.

Signs you have a gas leak
On its own, natural gas is colorless and odorless. Most utility companies add a sulfur compound to natural gas, which is where the rotten egg smell comes from. That way, you can easily tell if you have a gas leak.
Connections are the most vulnerable part of a pipe. If you see a damaged connection, you could very well have a leak.
The flow of gas escaping a pipe can also cause a visible disruption, like dust kicking up or plants billowing when there’s no wind.
If your gas bills have increased, but your usage has stayed the same, a leak could be the problem.
If there’s a hissing/whistling sound near a gas-powered appliance or behind a wall, you could have a leak.
Gas cuts off a plant’s source of oxygen. If your indoor and/or outdoor plants start to look like they’re dying (with no other explanation), you could have a slow gas leak.
